Six and half years ago CEO and founder Steve Bernat started online fundraising platform RallyUp to help nonprofits fundraise through crowdfunding and other means. RallyUp challenges business and nonprofit organizations to redefine what fundraising looks like today.  Through multiple “experiences” like raffles, auctions, livestreaming, and A-thons, nonprofits can choose the experience that best meets their needs.

In Use:

After recently helping a local youth group raise funds to go to camp, Bernat realized that while the crowdfunding space was saturated, it wasn’t well-organized and lacked creativity. Bernat explained that there was lots of platforms that allowed you to “click a button and donate” but not many that allowed the fundraiser to get involved. Through branded pages, livestreaming capabilities, and silent auctions, with RallyUp nonprofits can construct their experience combining multiple platforms or choosing just one to create the perfect fundraiser for their organization.

RallyUp comes in two price points for nonprofits – Free and Flex. With “Free”, donors have the ability to “tip” on top of their donation to ensure that the charity they’re donating to receives 100% of the funds. With “Flex” tipping is not allowed. With the “Free” subscription everything is included. There is no extra costs for multiple users or experiences. All nonprofits receive the same functionality and can utilize every aspect of the platform. The only thing a nonprofit would pay for is the standard credit card processing fees typically receiving 97.5% of donated funds. 

Ease of Use:

Included in the subscription – RallyUp includes an event management dashboard that help charities keep track of all of their fundraising activities. This is especially helpful if a charity is running multiple fundraisers simultaneously.

In terms of customer service, users can access help 24/7 through chat, email, or phone which is crucial for nonprofits who are hosting a livestreaming event.

Technology Needed:

RallyUp is based on the cloud which means that anyone can access their event management platform from any computer – anywhere around the world.

When it comes to integrations, RallyUp connects with multiple different software including Stripe, Google Analytics, Facebook and Zapier.


RallyUp is a fundraising management platform that allows fundraisers to easily tailor experiences to fit their needs. The platform has been around for over six years. After helping a youth group raise money to go to camp – Bernat was “motivated to get younger audiences more involved in charity.” RallyUp offers nonprofits the ability to conduct raffles, sweepstakes, A-thons and livestreaming among other fundraising tools.

Today RallyUp works with some of the most well-known charities as well as businesses. They previously assisted footwear company, NIKE who wanted to run a world-wide social charity campaign. Bernat was honored to be chosen by NIKE. While RallyUp wasn’t the biggest fundraising tool out there – “we had something that no one else did” – he said. And that was a platform to support the fundraiser and the legal regulations to make sure that everything was done “by the book.”

In 2016, Nike raffled off a limited number of Nike MAGs, a self-lacing sneaker that was featured in the movie “Back to the Future, Part II.” RallyUp was able to use their platform to conduct the raffle and drawing  - ultimately raising funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

My Opinion:

RallyUp is a great option for your fundraising needs. The dashboard makes it easy to keep track of your various fundraisers and with multiple options – there’s something for everyone from crowdfunding to A-thons, and livestreaming.
