DonateWiseNow for POS Fundraising

Computer Perfect, a value added reseller (VAR), has selected DonateWiseNow® to be included in its Lightning Online Point of Sale offering to retail merchants.  The move will enable businesses to enhance consumer loyalty, increase revenue and build brand recognition by fundraising for nonprofit organizations doing work important to them and their customers.

Electronic point-of-sale fundraising, sometimes referred to as “charity at checkout,” generated nearly $360 million for nonprofits in 2012, according to a report issued by the Cause Marketing Forum, making it the fastest-growing form of donor engagement.

Computer Perfect President Thomas Greco says his integrated solutions provider chose DonateWiseNow in large part because it is registered and bonded in all 50 states, allowing merchants to affiliate with nearly any 501(c)(3) organization without having to manage the regulatory and reporting compliance each state requires from fundraisers.

“We are pleased to bring a sense of community to our clients with the added value point-of-sale fundraising brings,” said Greco.  “Without any added expense, risk, or staff involvement, our merchants and their customers now have a convenient and discrete philanthropic opportunity.”

By aligning with Computer Perfect’s turn-key solution, retailers can select just about any charity recipients in good standing for contributions made by customers who voluntarily donate while using a credit or debit card to complete a payment transaction.

Here’s how DonateWiseNow works:

·        During checkout, customers are prompted to consider completing their transaction with a micro-donation ($1, $3, or $5, or they can round the transaction amount up the next dollar) to a nonprofit.  They can also choose not to participate.

·        Any donation that is made is processed electronically with the rest of the purchase, completely confidential, and done without interaction with the cashier.

·        Donated money is transferred each day to the selected organization to help it better fulfill its mission.

The Cause Marketing Forum’s research found that children’s health charities were preferred by 47% of consumers who chose to make an electronic contribution at the register.  Nonprofits aligned with a specific disease or illness received the second largest share, just over 21%, of donations.

“We’re focused on providing value to those who use our point-of-sale technology and the partnership with Computer Perfect will help us reach new merchant audiences with something that can have significant impact for communities of people everywhere,” said Robert DiMattina, one of the developers of the DonateWiseNow program.  “The goals and desires of the retailers, customers, and nonprofits are all positioned for maximum impact.”
