LA Jewish Community Foundation Creates Database to Help Donors

The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation) today announced the release of Search2Give, a unique searchable online database to assist donors in finding nonprofit organizations that are doing effective work in a variety of interest areas and communities. The database, which is available to the public at no charge at www.jewishfoundationla.org/search2give, launches initially with approximately 550 nonprofit agencies.

"Our new Search2Give database provides valuable information on nonprofits with a single keystroke. This is just one additional tool we offer our donors to help them channel their philanthropic passions and to meet their philanthropic goals."

Search2Give is believed to be the first comprehensive searchable online database of nonprofit organizations provided by a Jewish community foundation in the United States. The resource is the newest in a series of services offered by the recently introduced Center for Designed Philanthropy, which provides personal guidance and creative solutions for donors seeking strategies to magnify the impact of their giving.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for Foundation donors and the general public to give to bona fide worthy causes and organizations," said Foundation President and CEO Marvin I. Schotland. "Our new Search2Give database provides valuable information on nonprofits with a single keystroke. This is just one additional tool we offer our donors to help them channel their philanthropic passions and to meet their philanthropic goals."

Schotland said the database, which will be updated regularly, includes organizations that have recently received a minimum of $20,000 or more from The Foundation and its 1,000-plus donors. Donors can search and identify nonprofits that help fulfill their philanthropic goals based on a variety of criteria, including population served, area of interest and geographic location. In addition, the resource provides convenient hyperlinks to further background information on nonprofits such as IRS status from GuideStar (www.guidestar.org) and the Urban Institute's National Center for Charitable Statistics (www.nccs.urban.org).
